Policies
We have an extensive number of policies which guide the day-to-day operation of our kindergarten. Our policies have a review cycle that ensures we keep up-to-date with changes in legislation, learning and practises.
Friend Street Kindergarten operates in accordance with policies and procedures which are reviewed on either an annual or biennial review schedule. These policies and procedures ensure the kindergarten is meeting all of the regulatory and legal requirements of the Early Childhood Education and Care sector. The policies outline clear procedures to follow to ensure a high standard of care for children’s safety, wellbeing and educational needs. The policies are reviewed and approved by staff and the parent committee and accessible to all families here to ensure transparency and that our community has input and an understanding of what guides the operation of our community kindergarten.
Child Safety:
Friend Street Kindergarten is committed to the safety and well-being of all children. We comply with the regulatory Child Safe Standards and regularly review our child safety practices and potential risks. We have specific policies, procedures, risk assessments and training in place to achieve these commitments.
Particular attention is paid to the cultural safety of Aboriginal children, children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds as well as the safety of children with a disability.
We have zero tolerance for any activity that harms or abuses children directly or indirectly. Every person involved in our kindergarten shares a Duty of Care to our children and has a responsibility to understand their role in ensuring each child’s well-being and safety. These commitments are outlined in our Statement of Commitment to Child Safety and further information about the Child Safe Standards can be found here.
